Michael Vick could potentially play a role in the New York Jets' offense even if he's not the starting quarterback.
Coach Rex Ryan didn't dismiss the possibility of using the 34-year-old — and still-elusive — Vick as a change-of-pace option in a wildcat-like or zone-read package. Ryan says Saturday he recognizes that Vick has "special talent," but also says he wouldn't want to put him at risk physically.
Vick, signed in March to back up Geno Smith, has struggled to stay healthy in recent seasons because of his all-out approach on the field. But, he still has a knack for making plays, as he showed in the Jets' 13-10 preseason win over the Indianapolis Colts on Thursday night. Vick had a 15-yard run in the second quarter.
