Atlanta, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Washington Nationals placed outfielder Steven Souza Jr. on the 15-day disabled list with a left shoulder contusion and recalled top outfield prospect Michael A. Taylor from Triple-A Syracuse.

Souza hurt his shoulder slamming into the right field wall against the Braves on Friday. He went 1-for-12 at the plate in 13 games with the Nationals before landing on the DL.

Taylor is considered by MLB.com to be the third-best prospect in the Nationals' farm system. He combined to hit .315 with 20 doubles, 22 home runs, 63 RBI and 35 stolen bases in 102 games this season for Double-A Harrisburg (98 games) and Triple-A Syracuse (four).
