Raleigh, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - The Carolina Hurricanes agreed to terms with the seventh overall pick in the 2014 NHL Draft, defenseman Haydn Fleury, on a three-year, entry-level contract on Thursday.

Fleury, posted eight goals and 38 assists in 70 games with the Red Deer Rebels of the Western Hockey League last season. In 140 career games with Red Deer, the 18-year-old registered 12 goals and 53 assists.

The Saskatchewan native was named the best defenseman at the 2014 Under-18 World Championship in Finland, helping Team Canada to a bronze medal.
