LATROBE, Pa. – Landry Jones is ready to get back to work.
The Pittsburgh Steelers' third-string quarterback hasn't thrown a pass in an actual game in nearly a year, but figures to get a heavy workload when the team opens the preseason on Saturday night against the New York Giants.
The fourth-round pick in the 2012 draft completed less than 50 percent of his passes during Pittsburgh's four exhibition games. He hopes those numbers will go up significantly as he tries to make inroads on veteran Bruce Gradkowski for the right to be the primary backup behind Ben Roethlisberger.
Jones says he's more comfortable in the offense entering his second year and he's improved his accuracy dramatically during training camp.
