Pittsburgh Steelers rookie defensive lineman Stephon Tuitt hasn't wasted any time making an impression.

The second-round pick out of Notre Dame was working with the starters by the end of the first full week of training camp.

While it's uncertain how long the experiment will last, Tuitt believes the experience will pay off when the Steelers open the preseason on Saturday at the New York Giants.

Pittsburgh selected Tuitt with the 46th overall pick in May's draft as part of a youth movement along the defensive line. The Steelers opted not to re-sign defensive end Brett Keisel while Ziggy Hood and Al Woods left in free agency.

Coach Mike Tomlin has praised Tuitt's athleticism, but the rookie says he knows he still has a lot to learn.
