Montreal, QC (SportsNetwork.com) - Third seed Agnieszka Radwanska posted a second-round win Tuesday at the $2.44 million Rogers Cup tennis event.

The Polish star got past rising Czech Barbora Zahlavova Strycova 6-4, 6-4 in a second-round affair on the hardcourts at Uniprix Stadium.

In opening-round action that involved former world No. 1s on Day 2, ninth- seeded Serb Ana Ivanovic drubbed Swiss qualifier Timea Bacsinszky 6-1, 6-2, 11th-seeded Caroline Wozniacki smacked Slovak Daniela Hantuchova 6-1, 6-1 and unseeded Venus Williams held off Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 6-1, 3-6, 6-2. Ivanovic titled here in 2006, while Wozniacki was the 2010 champ.

Another seeded opening-round winner was No. 14 Spaniard Carla Suarez Navarro, who took care of Serb Bojana Jovanovski 6-4, 6-3.

Former U.S. Open champion and 2011 Rogers Cup runner-up Samantha Stosur of Australia handled Puerto Rican qualifier Monica Puig 6-2, 6-2, while American qualifier Coco Vandeweghe doused Chinese Zhang Shuai 6-2, 6-4 to reach the second round.

Additional opening-round wins came for Russians Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina, France's Caroline Garcia, Czech lucky loser Karolina Pliskova and Aussie Casey Dellacqua.

This week's top seeds are U.S. Open and reigning Rogers Cup champion Serena Williams, Wimbledon winner Petra Kvitova, Radwanska, French Open champ Maria Sharapova and Canadian favorite and Wimbledon runner-up Eugenie Bouchard. Last week's Stanford titlist Serena will open her Montreal stay against Stosur, who stunned the American in the 2011 U.S. Open final. Kvitova will face Dellacqua in the round of 32.

The 2014 Rogers Cup champ will collect $467,300.
