Fan Appreciation Day was a lot easier on the fans this year at Washington Redskins training camp.
The team said about 20,000 were on hand Saturday for the marquee practice, and the proceedings appears to go smoothly.
The team took extra precautions after last year's fan day, when about 100 spectators were treated for dehydration, including 10 who were hospitalized.
This year the Redskins limited the crowd by issuing tickets, reducing attendance by about 5,000. It also helped that practice was held earlier in the day, and that the weather was overcast and unseasonably cool.
DeSean Jackson did not practice. Coach Jay Gruden said the receiver has "a little soreness in his legs."
The Redskins have a day off Sunday before three days of practices against the New England Patriots.
