Phoenix, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - The Arizona Diamondbacks placed Paul Goldschmidt on the 15-day disabled list Saturday with a fractured left hand.
The starting first baseman for the National League All-Star team, Goldschmidt suffered the injury in Friday's 9-4 loss to the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates. He was hit by a pitch from Pittsburgh reliever Ernesto Frieri in the ninth inning.
Goldschmidt is batting .300 with 19 homers, 39 doubles and 69 RBI over 109 games this season.
The D-backs filled the roster spot by recalling outfielder Alfredo Marte from Triple-A Reno.
