Hayward, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Blayne Barber was one of five players to card a 7-under 63 on Thursday and claim a share of the Stonebrae Championship lead before play was suspended by darkness.
Barber, the South Georgia Classic winner, was joined atop the leaderboard by Chris Baker, Ryan Blaum, Kelly Kraft and Nicholas Lindheim.
Tyler Weworski, Hugo Leon, Cameron Wilson, Scott Pinckney, Timothy O'Neal and Josh Broadaway were tied for sixth place at TPC Stonebrae at 6-under 64.
"My favorite club in the bag is my driver and it's been my absolute worst club this year," said Weworski, who has missed eight straight cuts heading into this event. "I knew coming into this week I was starting to hit it good. I got to this week and saw this course was a bit of a bomber's paradise, so I figured it would be good."
Adam Hadwin, Zack Sucher and Andrew Putnam, all of whom have won this season, were among a group of nine players to shoot a 5-under 65 and share 12th place.
The first round will resume at 10:30 a.m. ET, with the second round scheduled to begin at its original time of 10:00 a.m.
Baker was the lone member of the leaders to play in the early wave and he opened his round with a par at the 10th before rolling in a birdie at the 11th. After parring the next four holes, he birdied the 16th and 18th to make the turn at 3-under.
A bogey at the first dropped him back to minus-2, but he answered that mistake with an eagle at the third and then converted a birdie putt the par-3 fourth from the fringe to jump to 5-under.
Baker later closed his round with back-to-back birdies at the eighth and ninth to claim the clubhouse lead at 7-under.
"I just haven't put four days together," said Baker. "I've made several cuts, but I've been struggling on the greens and anytime you do that it just leaks into the rest of your game. It makes the whole game harder."
Blaum countered an early bogey at the 13th with birdies at the 14th and 16th around an eagle at the 15th to reach 3-under.
Three straight birdies from the second pulled him within a shot of Baker, and Blaum claimed a share of the lead with a birdie at the eighth, He parred the ninth to end there.
Kraft also started on the back nine and followed a birdie at the 11th with a bogey at the 12th.
An eagle at the 15th moved him back into red numbers, and he birdied the 16th and 18th to move to 4-under.
He then birdied Nos. 3, 5 and 7 among six pars during his inward nine to earn his share of the lead.
Barber recorded birdies at the third, seventh and ninth to make the turn at 3- under.
After trading a birdie at the 10th with a bogey at the 11th, Barber followed a birdie at the 14th with an eagle at the 15th and another birdie at the 16th to reach 7-under.
Lindheim was the last of the leaders to take the course and he opened his round with a birdie at the 10th. A bogey at the 13th dropped him back to even- par, but he quickly rebounded with consecutive birdies at the 14th and 15th.
He later closed his round with a flurry to claim a share of the lead as he birdied five of his final seven holes to reach 7-under.
NOTES: The start of the first round was delayed an hour and 40 minutes due to fog ... Twenty-one players will need to complete their first round ... Scott Parel recorded a hole-in-one at the 16th. It was the seventh ace in tournament history.
