The NCAA has granted a medical hardship waiver to UConn forward Morgan Tuck, who underwent two knee surgeries and missed most of last season's national championship run.

The school announced Tuesday that Tuck, a junior academically, was awarded an extra year of eligibility and now has three remaining.

The 6-foot-2 Bolingbrook, Illinois, native played just eight games last season because of a bone bruise on her right knee. She averaged 7.5 points, including a career-high 19 during her last game on Jan. 7.

She sat out the rest of the season and underwent two surgical procedures to transplant cartilage into a spot where it was missing on the knee.

UConn said Wednesday that Tuck should be ready to play by the start of the upcoming season.
