Ile Bizard, QC (SportsNetwork.com) - Jim Furyk carded a 5-under 65 on Saturday and he extended his lead to three strokes after 54 holes at the Canadian Open.

Furyk, a two-time winner of this event, ended three rounds at 15-under-par 195. He missed tying the tournament's 54-hole scoring record by a single stroke.

Tim Clark fired a 6-under 64 and jumped into second place at minus-12. Kyle Stanley shot 68 and is alone in third at 10-under 200. Jamie Lovemark carded a 67 on Saturday and he is fourth at minus-9.

Tim Petrovic, who shared the lead after the first two rounds, stumbled to a 2- over 72 and dropped into a tie for fifth at 8-under 202. He was joined there by Joe Durant (67), Scott Brown (69) and Canadian Graham DeLaet (70).

Graeme McDowell (70) stands at minus-7 and is one of four players tied for ninth.

Furyk started round three with a pair of pars before he stuffed his approach within three feet at the third. He tapped that in and followed with a 23-foot birdie putt on the fourth to move to 12-under.

After four pars in a row, Furyk nearly holed his second shot as it stopped inches from the hole. He kicked that in for birdie and followed with a pair of pars on 10 and 11.

Furyk chipped inside two feet at the par-5 12th and knocked that in to move to 14-under. Two holes later, Furyk converted a 9-foot birdie chance to move three clear of the field. He finished with four pars in a row.

"I played pretty well. You know, I felt like yesterday obviously shooting 63 I was happy with how everything went. I hit the ball well, I scored well, and got the ball in the hole," Furyk said. "I scored well, but made a few loose swings, but I was able to scrap out pars."

Clark, the 2010 Players Championship winner, flew out of the gate with a birdie at the first and a hole-out eagle at the par-4 second. That moved Clark to 9-under, but he remained there with 10 consecutive pars from the third.

The South African dropped his tee shot at the par-3 13th within a foot. After he kicked that in, Clark parred his next two holes.

Clark birdied the 16th and 17th, from six and 15 feet respectively, to move to minus-12. He parred the last to end three back.

"It's always nice to get off to a great start, particularly on a Saturday," said Clark. "Saturdays are normally the toughest day to score on, and I hit my tee shot in a similar spot yesterday on the second and it was a tougher flag position, so you dream of a start like that, and after that I continued to play some pretty solid golf, again without a bogey today.
