Bogota, Colombia (SportsNetwork.com) - Australian wild card Bernard Tomic won his opening-round match Monday at the Claro Open Colombia.
Tomic defeated Uzbekistsan's Farrukh Dustov by a 6-3, 6-3 margin.
American Alex Kuznetsov and Guido Pella of Argentina also advanced to the second round.
Kuznetsov beat Frenchman Adrian Mannarino 6-4, 7-6 (7-3), while Pella discarded Colombian Eduardo Struvay 6-3, 6-4.
The 28-man field is led by world No. 14 Richard Gasquet, who is bidding for his first title of the year. The Frenchman lines up alongside No. 2 seed and reigning champion Ivo Karlovic. Vasek Pospisil, who won the Wimbledon doubles title this month (w/Jack Sock) and Radek Stepanek, the oldest man in the draw, make up the top four seeds.
