Halep wins Bucharest crown

Bucharest, Romania (SportsNetwork.com) - Top-seeded Romanian Simona Halep won the inaugural Bucharest Open on Sunday, beating second-seeded Italian Roberta Vinci 6-1, 6-3.

Halep, the French Open finalist, converted five of her 12 break points and attacked Vinci's second serve, winning 21-of-30 points.

Ranked No. 3 in the world, Halep captured her eighth career title and second of the season. She won the Doha crown in February.

Vinci, who was coming off a Wimbledon doubles triumph with Sara Errani, suffered just her second loss in 11 career singles finals.
