Arlington, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim placed outfielder Collin Cowgill on the 15-day disabled list with a broken nose and fractured right thumb.

Cowgill suffered both injuries in the eighth inning of Saturday night's game against Texas. He was hit in the nose by a pitch from Rangers reliever Matt West. The ball deflected off his thumb into his face, causing severe bleeding from the nose that required immediate stitching.

In 69 games this season, Cowgill is hitting .277 with five homers and 16 RBI.

To take Cowgill's spot on the roster, the Angels recalled infielder Grant Green from Triple-A Salt Lake prior to Sunday's game. Green has hit .324 with one homer and eight RBI in 29 games with the Angels this season.
