Stuttgart, Germany (SportsNetwork.com) - Top seeds Fabio Fognini and Mikhail Youzhny were each semifinal losers Saturday at the Mercedes Cup.
Roberto Bautista Agut of Spain took out the top-seeded Fognini 6-3, 6-4 in just 74 minutes before Lukas Rosol of the Czech Republic earned a 7-6 (7-3), 6-2 win over the second-seeded Youzhny.
Fognini was the defending champion at this clay-court event, while Youzhny was the 2002 winner.
Bautista Agut, seeded third, avenged a semifinal loss to Fognini from last year with Saturday's triumph. He was coming off a third-round loss to Andy Murray at Wimbledon and will play in a final for the second time in his last three events. The 23rd-ranked player in the world claimed his first ATP World Tour crown last month with a victory over Benjamin Becker at the Wimbledon tune-up in Den Bosch.
Rosol, a second-round loser to Rafael Nadal at Wimbledon, will also play in his second final of 2014 on Sunday. He fell to Grigor Dimitrov trying to defend his lone ATP World Tour title in the Bucharest final in April.
Both finalists are 1-1 in ATP title matches and will meet for the first time on Sunday.
The 2014 Stuttgart champion will earn $105,000.
