A lawyer for Will Mahone says the receiver hopes to return to Notre Dame but has been told by the university he is not welcome while felony charges are pending.

Attorney James Gentile said Tuesday he hopes to reach a plea agreement before Mahone is due back in court on July 23. Gentile says Mahone has not yet had to enter a plea on the felony charges of assault on a police officer, intimidation of a public servant and vandalism but has pleaded innocent to misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.

University spokesman Dennis Brown says Mahone has not been enrolled since June 24 but said he couldn't comment further because of privacy laws. Mahone was arrested in his Ohio hometown of Austintown on June 14.
