Vancouver, BC (SportsNetwork.com) - The Vancouver Canucks agreed to terms with forward Radim Vrbata Wednesday, with TSN.ca reporting the deal to be worth $10 million over two seasons.
Vrbata has scored 215 goals and accumulated 464 points over 12 NHL seasons, the last five of which he spent with the then-Phoenix Coyotes. He averaged 22 goals during his tenure in Arizona.
The 33-year-old Czech established career bests with 35 goals and 62 points with the Coyotes in 2011-12, then posted 28 points (12 goals, 16 assists) over 34 games during the lockout-shortened 2013 campaign. Vrbata followed up with a 20-goal, 51-point effort while playing in 80 games this past season.
Vrbata is the second major free agent signed by new Canucks general manager Jim Benning, who secured the services of former Vezina Trophy winner Ryan Miller with a three-year contract on Tuesday.
The Canucks will be the sixth team for Vrbata, who has also played for Colorado, Carolina, Chicago and Tampa Bay in addition to the Coyotes.
