Rosemont, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - Skylar Diggins scored a career-high 33 points to lead the Tulsa Shock to a 105-99 overtime victory over the Chicago Sky at Allstate Arena.
Glory Johnson added 22 points and 10 rebounds for the Shock, who earned their first road win of the season after an 0-6 start away from home. Tulsa, which received 18 points and nine assists from Odyssey Sims, trailed by as many as 12 early in the second half and by 10 early in the fourth quarter.
Jessica Breland scored a career-high 26 points on 12-of-16 shooting for Chicago, which lost for the sixth time in seven games. Breland added 10 rebounds, five assists and seven blocked shots before fouling out in overtime.
Epiphanny Prince chipped in 24 points and eight assists for the Sky. Chicago played a fifth straight game without star Elena Delle Donne, who is sidelined because of a recurrence of Lyme disease.
A tight overtime period came down to the final minute. Diggins missed a jumper, but Courtney Paris came down with the offensive rebound and set up Jordan Hooper for a three that gave the Shock a 102-99 lead with 59.7 seconds remaining.
Paris then got a piece of Jamierra Faulkner's jumper at the other end and Diggins drove the lane for another bucket to make it a five-point game with 32.2 seconds to play, essentially sealing the contest.
Tulsa trailed by 10 early in the fourth quarter and was still down seven with just over two minutes to play, but closed the period on a 9-2 run. A bank shot by Markeisha Gatling with 39.8 seconds left gave the Sky an 88-85 lead, but Johnson was fouled while driving to the hoop for a basket and sank the ensuing free throw to tie it.
Prince missed a jumper and Breland's putback attempt was off as time expired.
Tulsa led by as many as a six in the first quarter and opened a 27-24 lead after 10 minutes, but Chicago turned up the defense and surrendered just 11 points in the second. The Sky held the Shock to just 5-of-19 shooting during the period and started the stanza with a 10-2 run to move in front.
A three by Allie Quigley gave the Sky a 34-29 edge and Chicago carried a 48-38 cushion to the break behind 14 points from Breland. A bucket by Breland to start the second half made it a 12-point game, but Tulsa followed with an 11-2 run to trim the deficit to 52-49.
The Shock pulled within 60-58 with two minutes left in the third on a layup by Roneeka Hodges, but Chicago answered with eight of the next 10 before heading to the fourth with a 68-62 advantage.
