Denver, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - The Colorado Avalanche signed forward Jamie McGinn to a two-year contract extension on Thursday.

The deal keeps McGinn, 25, with the Avs through the 2015-16 season.

McGinn recorded 19 goals and 38 points for the Avalanche in 79 games last season. The Ontario native set career highs in points, assists, game-winning goals (3) and games played.

"Jamie is coming off a very good season and played an important role for our team," Avalanche Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations Joe Sakic said. "We're excited to have him under contract for another two years."

In six NHL seasons between San Jose and Colorado, McGinn has registered 65 goals and 57 assists in 347 games.
