New Orleans Pelicans 2014 Draft Preview

The New Orleans Pelicans don't have a pick in this year's stacked draft. That's the price one pays for trying to make the playoffs immediately.

New Orleans traded its first-round choice this year to the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for point guard Jrue Holiday. Philly also got the Pelicans' No. 1 pick from a year ago, Nerlens Noel.

Basically, this trade didn't go as planned for the Pelicans.

New Orleans missed the postseason, but it rarely had its full compliment of players. Holiday, Ryan Anderson and Anthony Davis all missed time with the first two season-enders.

The Pelicans could try and get into the late first round if a certain player catches their eye. Small forward, big-man help, or depth in the backcourt would all be welcome additions.
