Hours after the U.S. Open ended in North Carolina, 92 golfers, family members and caddies boarded a plane for a free flight to Connecticut.

The annual charter is provided by The Travelers, which sponsors this week's tournament in Cromwell.

It's part of the recruiting package the tournament developed to entice golfers not to take the week off after a major championship.

Director Nathan Grube says much of the focus is on the golfers' families and caddies, with perks including spa trips for the wives, toys for the kids and free dry cleaning for those who carry the bags.

The families also are offered outings to attractions such as ESPN and the Basketball Hall of Fame.

This year, 16 of the world's top 50 players are playing in The Travelers Championship.
