Colorado Springs, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - The United States Olympic Committee has narrowed down its possible bid cities for the 2024 Summer Games to four.

Boston, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Washington remain as candidates for a potential bid following a 16-month process that started with the USOC reaching out to 35 cities.

The U.S. hasn't hosted the Summer Olympics since the 1996 Atlanta Games.

Dallas and San Diego were eliminated from the list of potential candidates, USOC chairman Larry Probst said Friday. Philadelphia pulled out of the running last month.

The USOC said it will likely decide early next year if it will bid to host the 2024 games.

The last U.S. city entered into the bidding process, Chicago, finished last among four finalists to host the 2016 Summer Olympics, which were awarded to Rio de Janeiro.
