St. Petersburg, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - The Tampa Bay Rays signed first baseman Casey Gillaspie on Tuesday.
Gillaspie was selected No. 20 overall by the Rays in the first round of the 2014 First-Year Player Draft.
In his junior season at Wichita State University, the switch-hitter batted .389 with 15 home runs and 50 RBI in 59 games. He led the Missouri Valley Conference in homers, batting average, hits, and tied for first in RBI.
He is the younger brother of Chicago White Sox third baseman Conor Gillaspie.
