Chattanooga, TN (SportsNetwork.com) - Chattanooga women's basketball coach Jim Foster was rewarded with a contract extension Thursday.

The deal will keep Foster with the Mocs through the 2018-19 season.

Foster's successful first year in Chattanooga ended with a record of 29-4 and featured an undefeated Southern Conference season, the league title and a trip to the NCAA Tournament. The Mocs were beaten by Syracuse in the first round of the tourney.

"We were very fortunate to get someone of Jim's caliber to fill the position," said athletic director David Blackburn in a statement Thursday. "It was a very attractive job and we had a lot of applicants, but it was really a no-brainer to get him in here and continue UTC's tradition of excellence in women's basketball. We look forward to many more quality years with coach Foster."

Foster became available last March after he was fired following 11 successful seasons at Ohio State. He also coached Saint Joseph's from 1978-91 and Vanderbilt from 1991-2002.

A 2013 women's basketball Hall of Fame inductee, Foster and C. Vivian Stringer are the only men's or women's college basketball coaches with at least 200 wins at three different schools.
