Phoenix, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - Alfredo Simon pitched into the seventh inning and the Cincinnati Reds grabbed a 4-3 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks
Simon (7-3) gave up three runs on seven hits and a walk with four strikeouts over 6 1/3 innings for the Reds, who took the final three games of this four- game set after dropping the opener.
Chris Heisey, Todd Frazier, Ryan Ludwick and Zack Cozart each hit a solo home run in the win for Cincinnati.
"We're headed in a nice direction," Reds manager Bryan Price said. "Got some nice power supply with the four solo homers."
Miguel Montero, Eric Chavez and Ender Inciarte each drove in a run for the Diamondbacks, who have lost five of their last eight. Wade Miley (3-6) gave up four runs on eight hits over six innings.
Before the game, the Diamondbacks placed outfielder A.J. Pollock on the 15-day disabled list with a fractured right hand. He was hit by a pitch in the eighth inning of Saturday's game and he will have surgery within the next few days.
He could miss anywhere from five weeks to two months after the surgery.
Cincinnati grabbed the lead in the third on solo homers from Cozart and Frazier, the first a leadoff shot to left, the second a two-out blast to left.
It was a 3-0 game in the fourth when Ludwick stroked a two-out homer to left, his fourth of the season.
The Diamondbacks, though, rallied to tie the game in the fourth. With one out, Paul Goldschmidt walked and came home on a Montero double. A single from Martin Prado put runners at the corners and Chavez scored Montero with a sac fly. Inciarte's RBI single later in the frame plated Prado to make it a 3-3 game.
The game didn't stay tied long, though, as Heisey's solo homer in the fifth gave the Reds a 4-3 advantage.
"I needed a shutdown inning and I wasn't able to do it," Miley said.
Arizona left runners on first and third in the seventh when Cliff Pennington lined out to end the frame, then stranded a man on second in the eighth after Chavez popped out.
Aroldis Chapman pitched a 1-2-3 ninth for his seventh save of the season.
