Scott increases lead atop world rankings

Philadelphia, PA ( - A week after taking over the top spot in the world rankings, Adam Scott completed the Texas slam by winning at Colonial, and that helped him increase his lead atop the rankings.

Scott's lead increased from 0.15 average points to 1.16 average points.

And the man behind Scott also changed. Henrik Stenson inched ahead of the injured Tiger Woods for the second spot, as Woods dipped to third.

Matt Kuchar and Bubba Watson remained fourth and fifth. Rory McIlroy won the flagship event on the European Tour, the BMW PGA Championship, and he increased four spots to No. 6 this week.

McIlroy's move pushed Jason Day, Sergio Garcia, Justin Rose and Jordan Spieth down one spot each and they now rank seventh through 10th.

Phil Mickelson was 11th again and followed by Jim Furyk, Zach Johnson and Dustin Johnson. Jason Dufner lost to Scott in a playoff at Colonial, but he still moved up seven places to 15th.

Luke Donald shared third place at Wentworth behind McIlroy, and that helped the Englishman improve three notches to 16th. Jimmy Walker was 17th again this week.

Graeme McDowell and Steve Stricker both dropped three spots to 18 and 19, while Charl Schwartzel was down two to 20th. Ian Poulter fell from 20th to 21st.
