Tina Charles ended with 24 points and 14 boards for the Liberty, who fell to 1-2 on the young season. Cappie Pondexter and Essence Carson tallied 18 and 14 points, respectively.

Pondexter's 3-pointer with 24.3 seconds remaining pulled New York within 85-82. After Whalen went 1-of-2 from the foul line, Pondexter missed a layup.
