Barcelona, Spain (SportsNetwork.com) - Barcelona announced on Friday that the club has agreed to terms on a new contract with Lionel Messi.

Messi's current deal runs through June 2018 and contains a release clause of $340 million, and according to reports, those details won't change.

But the Argentina international will reportedly receive a nice pay raise from $18 million to $27 million a season.

A statement on the club's official website on Friday read: "FC Barcelona has reached an agreement to adjust the terms in the contract binding Leo Messi to the club as a professional first-team player. The revised and updated contract will be signed over the next few days."

The 26-year-old needs only seven goals to become La Liga's all-time leading scorer, and he has totaled 354 for the Catalan side in all competitions.

Messi has scored 28 league goals this season for Barca, which can clinch its 23rd La Liga crown with a win over Atletico Madrid on Saturday.
