Blazers sign Stotts to multi-year extension

The Portland Trail Blazers signed head coach Terry Stotts to a multi-year contract extension on Thursday. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Stotts led Portland to a 54-win season after the team went 33-49 the year prior and helped the Blazers to their first playoff series win in 14 years after defeating the Houston Rockets in six games in the first round.

"Terry has done an outstanding job during his first two years with the organization," Blazers general manager Neil Olshey said. "This extension illustrates our confidence in him as our head coach as well as the Portland Trail Blazers' continued commitment to building a model of consistency and stability."

This is Stotts' third coaching stop. He previously held the post in Milwaukee (2005-07) and Atlanta (2002-04).

"We started the process two seasons ago and laid the foundation for success. I look forward to the possibilities of the upcoming seasons," Stotts said.
