Berea, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - Vince Young's tenure with the Cleveland Browns lasted less than a month.

The itinerant quarterback was among five players released by the Browns on Monday.

Young signed with the Browns on May 1, but the club bolstered its depth at the position at last week's draft by selecting former Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel in the first round and signing South Carolina's Connor Shaw as an undrafted free agent.

Young hasn't played an NFL down since 2011 with Philadelphia and was cut in the preseason each of the last two years by Buffalo and Green Bay, respectively.

The Browns also cut running back Fozzy Whittaker, quarterback Alex Tanney, defensive back Brandon Hughes and defensive lineman Brian Sanford.
