The Philadelphia Eagles have selected Florida defensive back Jaylen Watkins with the first overall pick in the fourth round of the NFL draft.

Watkins bolsters a position the Eagles entered the draft looking to upgrade. The 5-foot-11, 194-pound Watkins can play cornerback or safety. He's the second defensive player chosen by Philadelphia.

The defending NFC East champions took linebacker Marcus Smith in the first round and selected wide receivers Jordan Matthews and Josh Huff in the second and third rounds.

The Eagles acquired the 101st from Houston. They also have Houston's fifth-round pick (no. 141), their fifth-rounder (No. 162) and a seventh-rounder (No. 237) remaining on Saturday.

Jaylen Watkins is the older half-brother of Sammy Watkins. The Clemson wide receiver was selected by Buffalo with the No. 4 overall pick.
