Manchester, England (SportsNetwork.com) - Manchester City scored four goals in the final 30 minutes, including two from Edin Dzeko, in a 4-0 win over Aston Villa at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday.

The result moves City two points clear of second-place Liverpool with one match to go. And with City holding a far superior edge in goal difference, The Citizens will likely clinch their second league title in three years with a draw at home against West Ham.

Manuel Pellegrini's team had to wait more than 60 minutes to finally breach the Villa defense, but it was Dzeko who found the net as he turned a low cross from Pablo Zabaleta past goalkeeper Brad Guzan from six yards.

The hosts doubled their lead eight minutes later when Guzan parried a shot from Samir Nasri that ended up on the foot of Dzeko, who rolled home his fourth goal in the past two games from close range.

Villa nearly pulled a goal back in the 83rd when Andreas Weimann's close-range header hit the crossbar, but City put the result away in the final minutes with goals from Stevan Jovetic and Yaya Toure to put one hand on the trophy.

Sunderland 2, West Bromwich 0

Sunderland, England - Sunderland completed a great escape on Wednesday with a 2-0 win over West Bromwich at the Stadium of Light that ensures safety for the Black Cats.

Sunderland was on the bottom of the league at Christmas, but a revival over the past few months has allowed the club to escape the drop, while Norwich City now looks all but certain to become the third and final team to be relegated.

Jack Colback fired Sunderland in front after 13 minutes on Wednesday when he got to the front of goal and stabbed home a cross from Marcos Alonso.

Fabio Borini then made it 2-0 to the home side in the 31st when he exchanged passes with Sebastian Larsson and volleyed home the return ball.
