Chicago, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - Chicago White Sox pitcher Nate Jones underwent successful back surgery.
The procedure, called a microdiscectomy, was performed on Monday. Its aim is to shave part of the disc material which presses on a nerve or the spinal cord and causes discomfort.
Jones, 28, failed to record an out in either of his two appearances this season, but hasn't pitched since April 3 against Minnesota.
The right-hander could begin baseball activity in one month upon re- evaluation.
