Hibs drop into relegation playoff

Edinburgh, Scotland ( - Kris Boyd's 44th-minute goal was enough for Kilmarnock to secure a 1-0 at Hibernian on Saturday, ensuring Killie's safety while dropping Hibs into the relegation playoff.

The result continues a poor run of form for Hibernian, which was only able to collect one point from its five post-split fixtures, and is now in danger of joining Edinburgh rivals Hearts in the Championship next season.

Boyd fashioned the lone goal shortly before halftime when he volleyed the ball past Hibernian goalkeeper Ben Williams from the edge of the penalty area, making his team safe for next season while denying Hibs the win that was required to help them avoid the playoff.

Ross County ends the season in seventh place after Melvin De Leeuw's 77th- minute goal handed the club a 3-2 win at Partick Thistle, while relegated Hearts claimed a point from its final game in the Premiership this season as Dale Carrick scored in the 48th minute to cancel out Conor Newton's first-half opener for St Mirren in a 1-1 draw.
