Munich, Germany (SportsNetwork.com) - Top seeds Fabio Fognini and long-time German crowd favorite Tommy Haas secured berths in Saturday's semifinals at the $590,000 BMW Open.

The gritty Italian Fognini leveled Brazilian qualifier Thomaz Bellucci 6-2, 6-2 in 69 minutes, while the 36-year-old reigning champion Haas held off tough Italian Andreas Seppi 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 in just under two hours on the red clay at MTTC.

Haas beat Philipp Kohlschreiber in last year's all-German BMW final and was also the runner-up at this event 14 years ago. His semifinal opponent on Saturday will be Slovakian qualifier Martin Klizan, who snuck past Uzbekistan's Denis Istomin 7-6 (7-3), 1-6, 6-1 on Day 5.

The other semi will pit Fognini against German qualifier Jan-Lennard Struff, who overcame Lithuanian lucky loser Ricardas Berankis 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.

This week's champion will earn $107,000.
