Oeiras, Portugal (SportsNetwork.com) - Top seeds Tomas Berdych and Milos Raonic were a pair of easy second-round winners Thursday at the $590,000 Portugal Open, a clay court French Open tune-up.

The world No. 6 Czech star Berdych handled Indian Somdev Devvarman 6-3, 6-2, while the ninth-ranked Canadian slugger Raonic routed Uruguay's Pablo Cuevas 6-3, 6-2.

Up next for Berdych will be Argentine Leonardo Mayer, while Raonic will meet Argentina's Carlos Berlocq in Friday's quarterfinals.

A Day 4 upset came when Portuguese wild card Gastao Elias upended fourth- seeded Spaniard Guillermo Garcia-Lopez 6-4, 3-6, 6-2.

Other second-round results saw Romanian Victor Hanescu outlast Spaniard Pablo Carreno Busta 6-3, 4-6, 6-3, Berlocq bounce Poland's Lukasz Kubot 6-4, 6-3 and the qualifier Mayer dismiss Kazakhstan's Andrey Golubev 6-1, 7-6 (7-3).

The other quarters will pit third-seeded Marcel Granollers against qualifier and fellow Spaniard Daniel Gimeno-Traver and Elias versus Hanescu.

The 2014 Oeiras champion will collect $107,000.
