Recife, Brazil (SportsNetwork.com) - Sport Recife earned its first victory of the season in the Brazilian top flight on Sunday with a 2-1 result over fellow newly-promoted side Chapecoense at the Estadio Ilha do Retiro.

Chapecoense responded late in the first half with an equalizer in the 37th minute through Ricardo Conceicao, but Sport Recife went back in front a minute later when Ananias fired it home for a 2-1 lead at the intermission.
Both teams saw ample possession in the second half, but Chapecoense could only manage two attempts on goal and were never able to produce another equalizer as Sport claim its first three points of the season.
The result moves Sport into fifth place in the table with four points from its first two matches, while Chapecoense sits in 15th place after two matches with one point.
