Renton, WA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Seattle Seahawks have hired former Miami Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland as a consultant through the 2014 NFL Draft, the team announced Monday.
Ireland spent the last six seasons as general manager of the Dolphins. On Jan. 7, the Dolphins announced that they had mutually parted ways with Ireland after an 8-8 finish and a fifth straight year without a playoff berth.
He began in the NFL as an area scout for the National Football Scouting Combine from 1994-1996, then spent four years in Kansas City as an area scout for the Chiefs (1997-2000).
Ireland was hired by the Dallas Cowboys as the team's national scout in 2001. He stayed with the Cowboys for seven years (2001-07), including his last three seasons there as the team's vice president of college and pro scouting, and joined the Dolphins prior to the 2008 season when former Cowboys coach Bill Parcells was named Miami's head of football operations.
