Augsburg, Germany (SportsNetwork.com) - Halil Altintop netted a first-half double on Sunday as Augsburg came away with a comfortable 3-1 result against Hamburg at the SGL Arena.
The hosts got off the mark quickly as Altintop opened the scoring after just seven minutes and finished his double just past the half-hour mark for the two-goal margin.
Andre Hahn made it 3-0 for Augsburg three minutes before the break and Heiko Westermann pulled one back for Hamburg in the 44th minute to give the visitors some hope heading into the second half.
But Hamburg could never get back in the game and remain in the relegation zone on 27 points, five points behind 16th-place Stuttgart.
Also in the Bundesliga on Sunday, Patrick Herrmann scored in the 35th minute to lift Borussia Monchengladbach to a 1-0 result over Schalke.
The result sees Monchengladbach improve to 52 points, two behind fifth- place Wolfsburg for a Europa League group stage berth.
