Boston, MA (SportsNetwork.com) - New York Yankees pitcher Ivan Nova will undergo season-ending Tommy John surgery.

Dr. James Andrews will perform the procedure on Tuesday of next week. The recovery time is approximately 12-to-18 months.

Nova has been sidelined since Saturday when he exited his start against the Tampa Bay Rays after feeling discomfort in his right elbow in the fifth inning. An MRI revealed a partial tear of the ulnar collateral ligament.

The right-hander went 2-2 with an 8.27 ERA over four starts this season.
