Marrakech, Morocco (SportsNetwork.com) - Third-seeded Yvonne Meusburger was an easy second-round winner Thursday at the $250,000 Marrakech Grand Prix tennis event.
The Austrian Meusburger spanked Spaniard Estrella Cabeza Candela 6-0, 6-2 on the red clay at the Royal Tennis Club.
Meusburger's quarterfinal opponent on Friday will be Swiss Romina Oprandi.
Also on Day 4, Oprandi held off Spanish qualifier Beatriz Garcia Vidagany 6-2, 5-7, 6-2, Maria-Teresa Torro-Flor drilled qualifier and fellow Spaniard Lara Arruabarrena 6-1, 6-2 and Slovenian Polona Hercog bested Belgian Alison Van Uytvanck 6-1, 6-4.
The other quarterfinals will pit top-seeded Slovak Daniela Hantuchova against sixth-seeded Chinese Peng Shuai, fifth-seeded Spaniard Garbine Muguruza versus Israeli Shahar Peer and Hercog against Torro-Flor.
The 2014 Marrakech titlist will claim $43,000.
