Allen Park, MI (SportsNetwork.com) - The Detroit Lions have brought back veteran cornerback Rashean Mathis on a new one-year deal, according to the team's website.

Mathis, who suffered a torn ACL in the 2011 campaign, signed with Detroit last season after spending 10 years in Jacksonville. Over 15 games last year, the 33-year-old Mathis recorded 16 passes defensed, his highest total since 2006.

In 152 career games, Mathis has totaled 30 interceptions with 120 passes knocked down and six fumble recoveries.

The Lions made an additional move Monday, claiming defensive end Kourtnei Brown off waivers from the Buffalo Bills. Brown did not get drafted out of Clemson two years ago and has not appeared in a regular season game.
