Magic hold on to beat Nets

Orlando, FL ( - Arron Afflalo scored 25, Kyle O'Quinn came up with a big block on Joe Johnson and the Orlando Magic held on to beat the Brooklyn Nets 115-111 on Wednesday night.

The Magic led by as many as 16 in the game but were clinging to a 112-109 lead when O'Quinn stepped out on Johnson to block his 3-point attempt on the high left side.

After Afflalo made 1-of-2 from the foul line at the other end with 9.2 seconds remaining, Maurice Harkless fouled Mirza Teletovic on a 3-point try, giving him three free throws.

But Teletovic made only two, cutting Brooklyn's deficit to 113-111, and Jameer Nelson knocked down a pair for Orlando to seal the win.

E'Twaun Moore scored 17 points off the bench for Orlando, including 14 in a row in the second quarter to ignite a 21-3 run that gave Orlando its 16-point lead.

Tobias Harris added 16 points and Nelson and O'Quinn scored 14 and 13 in that order as the Magic won their second straight game after knocking off Minnesota on Saturday. They are 4-3 since a nine-game losing streak.

O'Quinn also had a key assist, seeing through a double-team to find Harkless on the baseline to set up a dunk and a 110-107 Orlando lead with 24.6 seconds left.

"I had nowhere to throw the ball so he made a nice back-door cut for the dunk," said O'Quinn. "It was big for us."

Johnson scored 31 to lead the Nets, who had a three-game losing streak snapped on the heels of Tuesday's 88-87 win over Miami to sweep the four-game season series from the Heat.

The Nets, currently seeded No. 5 in the Eastern Conference, have won six of their last eight. They will face the Magic again on Sunday in Brooklyn, where they have won a team-record 15 straight games. The streak will be put to the test first on Friday against Atlanta.

Afflalo scored 11 of his 25 points in the first quarter but the Magic trailed 22-20 going into the second.

Moore single-handedly gave them the lead, starting the team's 21-3 run with three consecutive 3-pointers. He added a reverse layup and another 3 and the Magic eventually went up 45-29 with five minutes left in the quarter.

"In that first half we let things get away, let them get too many easy buckets and transition 3s," Brooklyn's Deron Williams said. "They scored 35 points in the second quarter. That essentially cost us the game."

The Nets were within 55-43 at halftime and tied the game with a 13-4 run late in the third quarter. They had a pair of one-point leads, but Orlando carried an 83-78 advantage into the fourth.
