Jones enters top 50 in world rankings

Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - Matt Jones became the second straight Australian winner on the PGA Tour on Sunday and that win helped him jump into the top 50 in this week's world golf rankings.

Jones, who won for the first time on the PGA Tour, soared 49 spots to No. 41 in the latest rankings.

The top five remained unchanged with Tiger Woods followed by Adam Scott, Henrik Stenson, Jason Day and Phil Mickelson.

Sergio Garcia finished third in Houston and moved up two spots to No. 6, while Matt Kuchar lost to Jones in a playoff, but still improved four spots to seventh.

Justin Rose and Rory McIlroy were both down two to eighth and ninth. Zach Johnson and Dustin Johnson, no relation, both dipped one to 10 and 11.

Bubba Watson held steady in 12th and was followed by Jordan Spieth, Graeme McDowell, Steve Stricker, Jason Dufner, Charl Schwartzel and Keegan Bradley.

Brandt Snedeker and Ian Poulter exchanged places with Snedeker up to 19th and Poulter dipping to 20th.
