Kansas City, KS (SportsNetwork.com) - Sporting Kansas City and Real Salt played to a scoreless draw on Saturday at Sporting Park in a rematch of last season's MLS Cup final.

Saturday's clash had a little less excitement than the Cup final last December as both sides found scoring chances difficult to come by in the opening 45 minutes.

The match opened up a bit in the second half as Sporting had the best chance of the half in the 52nd minute when Graham Zusi ran onto a through pass in the penalty area, but sliced his left-footed strike wide of the right post.

Real Salt Lake struggled to generate any offensive rhythm as the defending Western Conference champs finished with just one shot on target, but had one final opportunity with a corner kick in the final minute of play. But Chris Schuler's header off the corner was easily grabbed by Sporting goalkeeper Eric Kronberg and the sides settled for a share of the spoils.

The result sees Sporting Kansas City improve to seven points from its first five matches, while RSL remains in second place in the West with nine points.
