Houston, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Dwight Howard will not play for the Houston Rockets in Saturday's game against the Los Angeles Clippers due to a lingering ankle injury that also caused the All-Star center to miss time earlier this month.
Howard sat out three games with a sore left ankle before returning to action Monday at Charlotte, then recorded 17 points and 13 rebounds in Thursday's rout of Philadelphia.
Though the Rockets have deemed Howard day-to-day, Clippers television announcer Ralph Lawler tweeted prior to Saturday's matchup that Howard told him he would be sidelined for around 10 days.
Houston had previously ruled out starting point guard Patrick Beverley, who hurt his right knee against the 76ers and is currently sidelined indefinitely. The 25-year-old is to undergo a second opinion on Monday amidst reports he sustained a meniscus tear.
The Rockets enter Saturday's showdown just a game behind the Pacific Division- leading Clippers for the third seed in the Western Conference.
