Dundee, Scotland (SportsNetwork.com) - Georgios Samaras and Anthony Stokes scored first-half goals on Saturday as Celtic eased past Dundee United, 2-0, at Tannadice Park.

After being held to a surprising 1-1 draw by Ross County last weekend, Celtic were determined to get back on the winning track and got off to a flying start when Samaras found the back of the net just five minutes into proceedings.

Stokes then added a second goal in the 24th minute with a well-taken volley for a quick two-goal margin.

The hosts picked up their game in the second half, firing five shots on target in total, but Celtic were the better side on the day and came away with all three points.

The result sees Celtic, who have already clinched the Scottish Premier League title, improve to 88 points, while Dundee United remain in fourth place with 54 points.

Also in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday, Frazer Wright and Steven Anderson scored to hand St. Johnstone a 2-1 victory over Kilmarnock, while Ryan Stevenson scored two goals in a span of seven minutes to go with tallies from Dale Carrick and Billy King as Hearts earned a 4-2 win over Partick Thistle.

Finally on Saturday in Scotland, Steven Thompson netted a second-half double and Kenny McLean added a penalty kick as St Mirren came away with a 3-2 result over Motherwell.
