Bilbao, Spain (SportsNetwork.com) - The top of the La Liga table remained unchanged on Saturday after Atletico Madrid, Barcelona and Real Madrid all claimed maximum points.
Atletico stayed atop La Liga, coming from behind to get a 2-1 win over Athletic Bilbao at San Mames.
The home side was in front after just six minutes when Iker Muniain sent a looping shot over the head of Thibaut Courtois from a tough angle.
But Atletico battled back and eventually leveled the score in the 22nd minute when Diego Costa latched on to a through ball and fired a low shot past Gorka Iraizoz.
The two sides were tied until the 55th minute Koke produced the go-ahead goal by nodding a deflected cross into the back of the net from close range.
Barcelona kept pace by getting 1-0 win at Espanyol in a heated derby match. There was little between the two sides, but the reigning champions ultimately edged Espanyol behind a 72nd-minute penalty from Lionel Messi.
Real Madrid enjoyed the most emphatic win of Saturday's results, cruising past Rayo Vallecano in a 5-0 victory.
Cristiano Ronaldo opened the scoring in the 14th minute with neat finish, but the club was unable to add to the lead until the 55th minute when Daniel Carvajal capped a well-worked move with a first-time shot in the box.
Gareth Bale bagged a brace with goals coming just one minute apart and Alvaro Morata added a fifth to see Real Madrid add an exclamation point to the end of the result.
Atletico improves to 76 points to stay one point clear of Barcelona and three points ahead of Real Madrid.
Also in the Spanish top flight on Saturday, Nolito converted a late penalty kick to see Celta Vigo get a 1-0 win over Sevilla.
