Joselu's brace boosts Eintracht's survival hopes

Nurnberg, Germany ( - Eintracht moved six points clear of the relegation places on Sunday as Joselu scored a pair of goals in the second half of Eintracht's 5-2 win over Nurnberg.

The two sides entered the day separated by just three points with Nurnberg hoping to climb out of the drop zone with a win.

But goals from Tranquillo Barnetta, Joselu and Alexander Madlung handed Eintracht a commanding 3-0 lead.

Josip Drmic and Jose Campana both scored for Nurnberg to pull the club to within 3-2 with 20 minutes to play.

However, any hopes of a comeback for Nurnberg were dealt a blow when Javier Pinola received a straight red card for a foul on Joselu in the 80th minute.

Eintracht then put the game beyond reach in the 88th with Joselu volleying home a rebound attempt after Nurnberg goalkeeper Raphael Schafer saved a shot from Vaclav Kadlec, who scored a goal of his own two minutes later to cap the win.

The loss leaves Nurnberg in 17th place and one point from safety.

Sunday's other match saw Hoffenheim snatch a 3-2 win at fourth-place Bayer Leverkusen as Anthony Modeste scored the winner in the 89th minute.

Simon Rolfes netted the equalizer in the 54th for Leverkusen after Kevin Volland put Hoffenheim ahead 2-1. But Modeste's 10th goal of the season in closing minutes to extend Leverkusen's winless run to six games.
