Lakeland, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Detroit Tigers shortstop Jose Iglesias has been diagnosed with stress fractures in both legs and will be out 4-to-6 months.
Iglesias had been suffering discomfort in his legs and on Tuesday was diagnosed with bilateral tibial stress reactions. However, Dr. Thomas Clanton recommended a CT scan, which revealed the bilateral tibial stress fractures.
The 24-year-old native of Cuba will be limited to non-weight bearing conditioning and will begin the season on the disabled list. He will be reevaluated in four months.
Iglesias hit .303 with three homers, 16 doubles and 29 RBI over 109 games with Boston and Detroit last season. In 46 games with the Tigers after a July 30 trade, he hit .259 with two homers and 10 RBI.
